Frequently Asked Questions

What U-value are the walls left with after External Wall Insulation (EWI) is applied?

0.26W/m2K ROI part I requirement, more can be achieved right down to a U-value of 0.19

What savings on home heating/energy bills will be achieved?

All buildings achieve different levels depending on windows/doors etc. but on average 30% and up to 50%

How long does an average External Wall Insulation (EWI) take?

3-bed Terraced average 7 working days

3-bed Semi average 7-10 working days

3-bed Detached average 10-12 working days

4-bed Detached average 12-14 working days

What advantages does External Wall Insulation (EWI) have over Internal Wall Insulation or cavity wall fill?

Internal Dry Lining: This alternative reduces the footprint of a building and causes major disruption to tenants. It also leaves cold bridges at floor and internal wall junctions and can cost as much as EWI System.

Cavity Fill: Not suitable for all applications and can leave the external leaf colder than before and vulnerable to freeze thaw degradation. Fully filled cavities may in some cases provide a bridge to carry moisture between the external leaf through to the internal leaf causing cold bridging and dampness.

When upgrading the Thermal performance of a building using the EWI system you also get the opportunity to create a bright new low maintenenance facade without the cost associated with conventional methods.

What colours are the finishes available in?

A full range of colours is available to match any colour chart and only 1% fade over 10 years.
